Description
This is a beautiful, rare Patek Philippe gents vintage watch [Ref 2716151 / Model 3538], dating from the late 1960s and in simply excellent all-original condition - cleaner than photographed. It comes from a private collection and has clearly been carefully looked after. All parts of the watch are original to each other and the watch is of course authentic. The watch features a gleaming solid 18ct gold case, excellent, crisp hand wound Patek Philippe 18 jewel movement [Cal 230-300] a beautiful clean golden dial and original signed crown. The watch comes complete with a new, high quality Hirsch lizard strap and a new, genuine solid 18ct gold Patek buckle. The watch has recently been serviced by Patek and has the Patek service sticker on the back [to be peeled off].
My asking price is below value, given the continual rise in value of vintage Patek Philippe watches of this quality and condition. Such is the high quality of the watch, I will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the running order. I also include a professional insurance valuation, in excess of my asking price. I offer a full no quibble refund if you are not entirely happy with your purchase. Please feel free to arrange to view the watch in central London; we can take the watch anywhere you wish to have it authenticated.
The solid 18ct gold case is in excellent, bright gleaming condition - as near to mint as you will find for a watch of this age. The case still retains its original factory polish, so no nasty polishing. The Patek service sticker you see in the photographs just peels off; I left it on to show that the watch has been serviced by Patek. The case measures 33mm wide, excluding the original signed winding crown [signed with the famous Patek Philippe emblem] x 39mm long, including the lugs. The case back closes perfectly and firmly and the edges of the top and bottom are in very good condition, showing that the case has always been opened with care. The inside is correctly signed ‘Patek Philippe & Co', ‘Geneve Swiss’, the ‘3538’ model number and the ‘2716151’ reference number. The inside case also carries the appropriate Swiss hallmarks for 18ct gold, as does the upper case section.
The beautiful golden dial is original, with no restoration and is in excellent clean condition. It features enamelled Patek signature, solid 18ct gold hour batons and is signed 'Patek Philippe’ and ‘Geneve’. The original solid 18ct gold hands are in excellent, unbent condition, and the original lens is perfectly clear.
The hand wound Patek Philippe 18 jewel movement [Cal 23-300] is in excellent, crisp gleaming condition. It is superb quality, as you would expect, centre jewelled and featuring Geneva stripes and carrying the Geneva seal of excellence. It is signed ‘Patek Philippe & Co’, ‘Eighteen 18 Jewels’, ‘Adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism & five 5 positions’, ‘23-300 PM’, No 1214420 and ‘Geneve Swiss’. The movement has recently been serviced by a Patek Philippe and is in excellent working order.
I have put this beautiful watch on a new, genuine lizard Hirsch strap, which suits it perfectly. As mentioned, I have bought and added a new solid 18ct gold Patek Philippe buckle [cost £360]. The watch comes complete with a new, quality non-Patek watch case.
A lovely watch from one of history's premier watchmakers; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
