Screaming Deco! - large case - beautiful 'exploding' numbers
£1,250
Description
This is a simply beautiful Asprey gents watch, dating from the 1920s and in excellent condition for a watch dating back nearly ninety years. As well as being beautiful the watch is also extremely rare. It features a large for the era solid silver case - see case measurements below - which is more 'gleaming' than photographed, a mint clean classic Art Deco dial with highly sought-after ‘exploding’ numbers, and a quality Swiss 15 jewel movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in good working order for its age. The watch comes on a new, high-quality Hirsch lizard strap and comes complete with a new, quality presentation case..
Asprey jewellers of Bond Street, London, have been in business since 1781 and have been assigned Royal warrants since the 1800s. They are one of history's most exclusive names. The watch is rare and highly collectible in this kind of condition; an excellent financial investment.
My asking price is below the value of the watch, given the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this quality and rarity. Such is the high quality of the watch, I will include a six month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, twelve days if overseas, in the same condition. Contact me if you would like to view the watch in central London
The solid silver hinged case is large for a watch from this early era. It is in excellent, gleaming condition for a watch of this age, with very minor wear, and measures 25mm, excluding the winding crown x 45mm long, including the solid silver lugs. The back opens on a hinge and the case is hallmarked for solid silver. The outside back of the case is much more 'gleaming' than in the photo.
The stunning Art Deco dial is in mint condition, with no marks, and features highly sought-after ‘exploding’ numbers - just beautiful - with the rare blue 12. It is signed ‘Asprey’ and ‘Swiss made’. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition, and the lens is very clear.
The hand-wound 15 jewel Swiss movement is in very good, bright condition for its age, and is signed '15 Jewels' and ‘Swiss Made’. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in good working order for its age.
This lovely watch is on a new high-quality Hirsch genuine lizard strap, which suits it perfectly, and comes complete with a new, quality presentation case, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.
A superb collection-standard vintage watch from one history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
